Spring is in the air as Newby Hall outside of Ripon, Yorkshire opens after the winter break on April 1st. Newby Hall is a large stately home built by Wren and enlarged by Adam with impressive Adam interiors. Extensive grounds and gardens go down to the River Ure, and include a memorial to hounds killed in a ferry disaster (the memorial does not commemorate the huntsmen) a scale model steam railway and many and varied gardens.
To start the season Sarah Young is having a show of her work in the Shop and Gallery at Newby and has been commissioned to produce a print for the show.
Sarah took as her inspiration the Adam interiors and extensive collection of Roman statuary which the owner (in 1765) William Weddell collected on the grand tour of Europe.
The Private View is on Tuesday 29th March from 6pm to 8.30pm. For more information contact Daniel Hornsey on 01765 602875.
